Increasing Equality of Public Health Quality in Papua, GP Pharmacy Distributes Thousands of Free Medicines and Vitamins in Puncak Jaya Papua

JAKARTA - Worm disease is one of the dangerous diseases for humans which in the long term can cause various negative effects for sufferers. One of the problems that is closely related to worms is malnutrition which can attack not only adults but also children.

Several years ago in Papua there was an Extraordinary Event (KLB) due to malnutrition. This incident that had claimed dozens of lives is of course a concern for all of us so that it doesn't happen again.

The government is proactively promoting various programs to continue to reduce the number of malnutrition and intestinal worms that occur in Papua. For this reason, the Secretariat of the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia (SETWAPRES) together with the Indonesian Army Retired Association (PPAD) held a social program entitled "Kitorang Sees the Light on the Eastern Horizon".

Collaborating with various institutions, namely the Directorate General of Taxes of the Republic of Indonesia (DJP-RI), the Association of Indonesian Pharmaceutical Companies (GPFI), the Association of Indonesian Ophthalmologists (PERDAMI), the United Teguh Social Association (HBT), SCTV & INDOSIAR, Sido Muncul, Gramedia and ERHA Clinic Indonesia to support this program, it is hoped that it will have a good impact on increasing equity in the quality of public health in the Land of Papua, especially in Puncak Jaya Regency, Papua.

Secretary General of GP Pharmacy Indonesia, Andreas Bayu Aji said GPFI through several Indonesian pharmaceutical industry players such as PT Kalbe Farma, PT Kimia Farma, PT Dexa Medica, PT Konimex, PT Holi Pharma, and PT Cendo Pharmaceutical is committed to assisting the Kitorang Sees Light program in East Horizon by distributing 4.000 deworming medicines, 6,000 vitamins and 9,000 influenza medicines.

The activity, which was held from January 27, 2023 to February 2, 2023, began with the distribution of deworming medication, influenza medication and vitamins, which was then followed by public health checks and free cataract surgery for 400 residents of Puncak Jaya Regency, Papua.

"In an effort to help distribute the quality of health in Indonesia through eradicating intestinal worms, influenza and malnutrition in children in Papua. We believe this activity can have a good impact on the people of Papua while at the same time realizing the Healthy Indonesia 2025 program," said Andreas Bayu Aji, in his statement, Monday 6 February.

Reaching more than 4.000 beneficiaries, this program received appreciation from the Acting Regent of Puncak Jaya Regency, Papua, Tumiran S, Sos, M.AP who considered that the Kitorang Sees the Bright Program on the Eastern Ufuk was the opening spirit at the beginning of the year to be able to move together to improve conditions. health in the Land of Papua.

"Our focus now is solving health problems and the quality of life of the community. We believe that through collaboration from various parties, both the government, the private sector and associations, it will make it easier to overcome the health problems we face. In this program, we hope that this program can be sustainable so that a good health ecosystem is created and there are no more children with worms and malnutrition in our district," said Tumiran.
