JAKARTA - The Minister of Trade (Mendag) Zulkifli Hasan acknowledged the scarcity of simple packaged cooking oil with the Minyakita trademark.

However, he denied that the price of Minyakita had increased.

Zulhas, the nickname for Zulkifli Hasan, said that the shortage of Minyakita was due to reduced shipments.

The reason, said Zulhas, is that everyone has bought Minyakita now, because the quality is the same as premium brands.

"Regarding oil, Minyakita has two reasons, the price does not go up, but in people's markets, shipments decrease, because this Minyakita is now a brand that is loved by every consumer, and it is not only in traditional markets but this Minyakita has entered the international markets. modern market, modern retail," he told reporters, Monday, January 30.

Apart from that, continued Zulhas, another reason for the shortage of Minyakita is the supply of crude palm oil (CPO) absorbed for B35.

"Second, we added yesterday, B20 became B35, B20 sucked up 2 million CPO. So there are two reasons, that's why we invited nearly 30 of these oil producers to come. Previously, the supply for Minyakita was 300,000 tons per month.

Zulhas said that the additional supply of Migor will be carried out for three months, namely from February to April 2023.

This step also ensures safe supplies ahead of fasting and Eid 2023.

"Hopefully with that, we can flood traditional markets or modern markets with bulk or Minyakita brand cooking oil," he explained.
