JAKARTA - PT Industri Jamu & Pharmacy Sido Muncul Tbk (Sido Muncul) won the SDGs Action Award from the Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas). Sido Muncul was named the best in the business world category.

Sido Muncul Director, Irwan Hidayat, said that this is the first time Sido Muncul has won the SDGs Action Award given by the government through Bappenas.

Sido Muncul's journey to reach first place was also not easy because they had to compete with 250 companies at the beginning of the selection process, then narrowed down to the top 5, and narrowed it down again to 3 champions.

"Receiving this award makes us (Sido Muncul) aware that next year our policy will be to help the government to empower community development", said Irwan in his statement, quoted Monday, December 5.

The Sustainable Development Goals (TPB/SDGs) are the 2030 Agenda which is a sustainable development agreement based on human rights and equality.

TPB/SDGs have Universal, Integrative and Inclusive principles, to ensure that no one is left behind. Sido Muncul also supports this implementation by participating in several programs.

Irwan continued that so far Sido Muncul has carried out several community development activities. As in the downstream, Sido Muncul empowers 150 distributors throughout Indonesia who have been fostered by the company since 1974. Meanwhile, for the upstream sector, Sido Muncul has approximately 130 farmer groups.

"So downstream we have 150 distributors. In the upstream we have farmers to get supplies of raw materials", said Irwan.

Irwan also explained that Sido Muncul had carried out several community development programs in villages which would later be expanded. The trick is to work with villages so that Sido Muncul can be involved in developing the SDGs so that the 2030 target is no poverty in the world.

Several programs were considered successful by Sido Muncul to finally win this award. The first is the Spice Cardamom Village of Sambirata, which is budgeted at IDR 70,000,000 in 2021-2022 with 275 beneficiaries.

The second is Padi Inspiration Village, which is budgeted around IDR 35,000,000 for 2021-2022 with 320 beneficiary farmers. Third, several post-pandemic economic recovery programs and acceleration of vaccinations, which are budgeted at IDR 10.4 billion in 2021-2022 with 119,000 beneficiaries.
