NUSA DUA - PT PLN (Persero) collaborated with PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) or Pelindo to turn ports spread across Indonesia into more environmentally friendly ports.

This step is also a form of SOE synergy in supporting the Net Zero Emission target in 2060.

PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo explained that his party would turn Pelindo's port into a green port.

This green port concept carries electrical-based energy as a substitute for fuel oil (BBM) which has been commonly used by ships when docking.

"This collaborative step is also in line with our program in the Electricifying Marine which changes the needs of fuel which is usually used for port operations to be electricity-based," Darmawan said as quoted on Wednesday, November 2.

Darmawan explained that PLN will build independent electric platforms (ALMA) in 24 port areas owned by Pelindo.

This ALMA can be used by small fishermen and small boats to charge ship equipment, cold storage and also battery-based ship engines.

In addition, PLN will also build a Shore Connection to answer the electricity needs of the large and moderate ship segment for charging.

A total of 27 Mega Volt Ampere (MVA) power from Shore Connection will be built by PLN in several main ports owned by Pelindo spread across Java, Kalimantan, NTT and NTB.

Pelindo President Director Arif Suhartono explained that this synergy is Pelindo's commitment to realizing a Green Port to reduce carbon emissions and greenhouse gas effects, in order to create a sustainable and environmentally friendly port.

"In realizing a green port, Pelindo seeks several initiative focuses, including through operational efficiency by using digital solutions, waste management, energy development and the use of environmentally friendly equipment, as well as providing incentives and facilities for customers who support environmentally friendly operations," concluded Arif Suhartono.
