After Successfully Exporting To Australia, Coffee From South Solok Will Target Norwegian Market

SOUTH SOLOK - West Sumatra Governor Mahyeldi Ansharullah said he would market coffee commodities to the Scandinavian country as an effort by the government to increase the market and boost production.

"Coffee from South Solok has been sent to Australia. Then in February 2023, we were invited to Norway and coffee is one of the commodities that will be brought there to increase marketing," Mahyeldi said, as quoted by Antara, Sunday, October 23.

With a good collaboration between the local government, central and BSI will provide maximum results to farmers.

He hopes, what has been done by BSI can be followed by entrepreneurs or other banks so as to improve the welfare of farmers.

He said that in 2021 the exchange rate of farmers in West Sumatra will increase by 7.9 points compared to 2020 and hopes that 2022 will be even better so that the welfare of farmers will increase.

The highest exchange rate for farmers is the plantation sector, which is 300 percent because now there is a focus on developing galo-galo honey and its quality is one of the best in the world.

"Indeed, the highest inflation is in West Sumatra, but for the people, it is not felt because the economic growth of West Sumatra is above five percent," he said.

He added, supporting community partnerships with cooperatives and other parties to revive the economy.

South Solok Regent Khairunas hopes that the West Sumatra Provincial Government will develop farmer groups in a sustainable manner and collaborate with the Regency Government.

"With the support of various parties, farmers must be able to increase productivity so that they can improve the economy," he said.

He hopes that the assistance from BSI can also be in the form of technology so that farmers can develop their production and generate added value.

He thanked the West Sumatra Provincial Government for continuing to pay attention to South Solok in all fields.

For the production of South Solok Coffee until the third quarter, namely 627 tons of Arabica with an average harvest of 720 kilograms per hectare in the form of rice coffee.

Meanwhile, Robusta production reached 1,988 tons with an average harvest of 934 kilograms per hectare in the form of coffee and rice.
