Responding to News of MRT Acquisition of 51 Percent Shares of KCI, Erick Thohir: DKI Provincial Government Will Meet with Kemenhub

JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), Erick Thohir, spoke about the discourse on the acquisition of 51 percent of the shares of PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KCI) by PT MRT Jakarta. According to him, the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono will meet the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) to discuss the acquisition plan.

"We are discussing that tomorrow Mr. Heru will go to the Ministry of Transportation, I can't take on the main tasks of the Ministry of Transportation, we are a corporation", said Erick at the Ministry of SOEs Office, Wednesday, October 19.

Furthermore, Erick said that his party could not confirm the acquisition. For information, currently, the majority stake in PT MRT Jakarta is 99 percent owned by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.

"Not yet, we'll talk about it later, it's not impossible to have joint ownership. Today is the era of togetherness and the younger generation encourages those who are more senior to be more collaborative", he said.

Regarding the legal umbrella of PT MRT Jakarta's plan to acquire 51 percent of KCI's shares, said Erick, it could be realized soon.

"This is him (Heru Budi Hartono) just going to the Ministry of Transportation. As soon as possible", he said.

Meanwhile, the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono said he would also communicate with several parties regarding this acquisition plan.

"I will go around, including later we will gather friends from BUMD, BUMN, DPRD, we will talk to all of them", said Heru.
