President Jokowi: Indonesia's Economic Growth is the Highest Among G20 Forum Member Countries

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said Indonesia achieved the highest economic growth among the countries and regions of the G20 forum members, indicating that the country's recovery is continuing.

"So if I was asked to estimate the second quarter could grow 5.44 percent (year on year/YoY), try looking for G20 countries that grew above five percent. We are the highest in the G20", said President Jokowi while attending an economic presentation in 2023. in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Thursday, September 29.

With this achievement, the President invited all parties to be optimistic about continuing the trend of Indonesia's economic recovery. He acknowledged that Indonesia faces global challenges that are not easy, but there is always a way to overcome every problem.

"What we are facing is not easy, it is not easy, but we must remain optimistic", he said.

Jokowi explained that currently, global economic conditions are difficult. Economic challenges are also faced by developed countries such as food security problems, energy crises to financial turmoil.

However, according to Jokowi, Indonesia is still able to maintain its ongoing economic recovery. The recovery trend in Indonesia is still relatively strong.

Several indicators of Indonesia's economic recovery, Jokowi explained, among others, state revenue which has grown by 49 percent or IDR 1,764 trillion, of which tax revenues have grown to IDR 1,171 trillion or grew by 58 percent.

"Customs and excise revenue of IDR 206 trillion or growing 30.5 percent, the growth is very jumpy. Then the realization of Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) is IDR 386 trillion, or grows 38.9 percent", he explained.

In addition, consumer optimism is also still high because the Consumer Confidence Index (IKK) was recorded at 124.7. Bank credit has also grown to 10.7 percent. On the other hand, Indonesia's trade balance posted a surplus for 28 consecutive months, amounting to US$5.7 billion.

"This is a very big number, this is a surplus. Our manufacturing PMI (Prompt Manufacturing Index) is 51.7 above global", said President Jokowi.
