JAKARTA - PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) continues to improve the quality of services to service users at Super Priority Tourism Destinations (DPSP) in the Lake Toba area, North Sumatra.

PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) Corporate Secretary Shelvy Arifin said that now ASDP has officially managed the Ajibata Port and Ambarita Port with the State-Owned Goods Operational Utilization Cooperation (KSPO BMN) scheme.

"Ajibata and Ambarita ports will increase accessibility, comfort and of course be able to leverage the economic competitiveness of the surrounding community through the use of tenants," said Shelvy in a statement in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Monday, September 19.

Shelvy explained, Ajibata Port has an area of 10 thousand m2 with a main terminal building area of 2,155 m2 which is equipped with modern accessibility in the form of escalators and elevators.

Ajibata Port also has 29 commercial tenant units spread across indoor and outdoor areas.

Meanwhile, Ambarita Port has a slightly larger area than Ajibata Harbor, which is 7,000 m2 with a main terminal building area of 1,540 m2 which is also equipped with escalators and lifts.

Ambarita Port itself has 15 commercial tenant units spread across indoor and outdoor areas.

She continued, ASDP serves the community in the Lake Toba area by operating 3 ships, namely KMP Ihan Batak which serves the Ajibata-Ambarita route, KMP Caldera Toba which serves the Muara-Onan Runggu route, and KMP Pora-pora which serves the Balige-Onan Runggu route.

The Ajibata-Ambarita route served by KMP Ihan Batak is one of the busiest routes to the favorite tourist destination of Lake Toba.

And this route has been implemented for the first time by web-based online ticketing services via toba.ferizy.com and as of September 1, online ticketing services at the Ajibata-Ambarita Lake Toba Crossing are getting smoother.

She said the implementation of online ticket reservations was ASDP's effort to accelerate the digitization program launched by the government as well as an effort to simplify and accelerate consumer service in ticket reservations.

"It is targeted that all routes in the Lake Toba area in the future can also implement online ticket reservations, so that it will make it easier for the community," he said.

Shelvy added that the Ajibata-Ambarita route operates from 07.00 to 20.00 WIB with eight crossing trips.

The travel time between the two ports is only one hour, which is served by one KMP Ihan Batak ferry. In 2021, the number of crossings on the Ajibata-Ambarita route was recorded at 331,212 people and 69,164 vehicles with 2,798 trips.

She hopes that the presence of ASDP services on the Ajibata-Ambarita cross will be able to further improve the progress of the Lake Toba tourism sector.
