Government Calls 298,474 Livestock Affected By FMD, Association Of Cattle And Buffalo Breeders: Real Data Is Much Bigger

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Cattle and Buffalo Breeders Association (PPSKI) questioned the government's data on the spread of the mouth and nail disease (PMK) outbreak. Because, according to PPSKI, the data does not match the real data in the field.

Chairman of PPSKI Nanang believes that the data on the spread of the PMK outbreak which is updated every day through the official website on standbypmk.id does not contain a fifth of the real data in the field. "The data (distribution of PMK) that appears in official government data that is released every day, I believe it is not one fifth of the real data on the ground," he said in a virtual discussion, Thursday, June 30.

Nanang said the data updated by the government was indeed data from official officials. However, according to Nanang, there are actually many independent veterinarians, as well as paramedics who handle this case.

Therefore, Nanang admitted that it was very difficult to obtain official data regarding the spread of the FMD outbreak and the number of livestock that had been infected with the outbreak.

"Animals handled by independent veterinarians, independent paramedics and those treated by farmers themselves are extraordinary. So I believe that the data released by the government is outdated or the real data far exceeds it. If the official data says it's only 200 thousand heads, I'm sure already over 1 million heads," he said.

Citing standbypmk.id, as of June 30, 2022, at 17.09 WIB, it was noted that this FMD disease had spread to 19 provinces and 223 regencies/cities, with 298,474 sick cases, 98,834 recovered, 2,063 conditional slaughter, 1,774 deaths. tails, and 172,192 have been vaccinated.

Therefore, Nanang asked the government to actively collect data, not only from official officials. But also from each companion so that the data presented can be more real.

"I have also conveyed the meeting with the Ministry of Agriculture, I propose that the Ministry of Agriculture has accompanying data. So that when making decisions in taking action it is not too late," he explained.
