Indonesia's Economic Added Value Reaches IDR 4.5 Trillion From The Mandalika MotoGP Race, Sandiaga Uno: NTB's GRDP Up 1.46 Percent

JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno said that the 2022 MotoGP in Mandalika, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), has added value to the Indonesian economy. The value is IDR 4.5 trillion.

"This (amount) is beyond the IDR 700-800 billion figure that we estimate," he said in a virtual weekly press briefing, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, May 31.

Furthermore, the Menparekraf stated that the contribution of the MotoGP event to the increase in NTB's gross regional domestic income (GRDP) was 1.46 percent on an annual basis (yoy) with an increase in the food and beverage sector by 1.04 percent, as well as transportation and warehousing of 0.74 percent.

"For the first quarter of 2022, NTB's economic growth is 7.76 percent, while economic growth at the national level is 5.01 percent," he said.

The event also encouraged a very significant increase in the number of passengers to West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), namely through air transportation by 94.81 percent and sea transportation by 74.91 percent. On that occasion, Sandiaga also conveyed the results of the survey on the impact of the MotoGP event on business actors.

First, business players experienced an increase of 41 percent during the international motorcycle racing competition with 23 percent of them coming from outside NTB. Second, 59 percent of business actors received facilitation for the implementation of MotoGP, and the most received assistance from the government at 40.5 percent.

The survey also noted that 46 percent of business actors are household businesses. "This is a lot of mothers, mothers, MSMEs-UMKM," said Sandiaga.

During the 2022 MotoGP, he said, the best-selling creative economy products were food at 50.43 percent, crafts at 19.31 percent, fashion at 15.96 percent, and others 14.8 percent.
