MEDAN - The City Government (Pemkot) of Medan together with Bank Indonesia (BI) Representatives of the Province of North Sumatra (North Sumatra) has again encouraged efforts to digitize traditional markets through the QRIS Healthy, Innovative and Safe to Use (SIAP) Program.

This time, the targets are four traditional markets in the areas of Petisah, Sei Kambing, Kampung Lalang and Pasar Center, Medan City.

"Of course, the Medan City Government supports (the QRIS SIAP Program), and there are several things that need to be considered so that in the future it can run more optimally," said Mayor of Medan, Bobby Nasution, in Medan, as reported by Antara, Wednesday, March 16.

Some of these notes, according to Bobby, are the availability of various supporting facilities needed in the field for digital transactions to be carried out. "The facilities provided (to market traders) must be available first, and must be deployed more massively so that (the transaction process) runs smoothly," said Bobby.

According to Bobby, the program, which was jointly initiated by the Medan City Government and the BI Representative for North Sumatra, is important to encourage the economic growth of the people of North Sumatra, especially in the city of Medan. Bobby hopes that the collaboration between the Medan City Government and BI regarding the digitization of transactions in the community can be maximized in the future.

Meanwhile, on the same occasion, the Head of the BI Representative for the Province of North Sumatra, Doddy Zulverdi, said that this program was an effort to design markets and shopping centers to support national economic recovery.

"The socialization process has been running since last January to February. We hope that this program will be able to accelerate payments and encourage hygienic, easy and safe non-cash transactions in the community," said Doddy.
