After Sending 12 Players Against Barito Putera, PSM Makassar Sentenced To 6 Points Reduction

PSM Makassar was given a penalty for reducing points following the incident playing 12 players against Barito Putera (Instagram/@psm_makassar).

JAKARTA - Strict sanctions were given by the PSSI Disciplinary Committee (Komdis) to PSM Makassar. This is related to the controversy of 12 players who were fielded by PSM Makassar during the match against Barito Putera.

Because of this incident, the club nicknamed Juku Eja was sanctioned with a penalty of reducing eman points.

This punishment made PSM have to lose the victory they previously won over Barito Putera with a score of 3-2.

In addition to the victory that was disallowed, PSM was also subject to additional sanctions, namely a three-point deduction. This was decided in accordance with Article 56 and Article 28 of the PSSI Disciplinary Code.

The decision to cut points has made PSM's position in the 2024/2025 Liga 1 standings down from eighth to 12th with a total of 21 points from 17 matches.

Meanwhile, for the Barito Putera camp, the incident made them now get an additional three points as a form of compensation even though they previously lost dramatically against PSM.

Previously, it was known that the controversy over the 12 players who were fielded by PSM Makassar in the match against Barito Putera occurred at the last minute of the match.

Precisely when PSM changed three players simultaneously in the 90+7 minute.

When the situation took place, one of the players who should have been replaced did not immediately leave the field so PSM played with 12 players.

This situation made Barito Putera coach, Rahmad Darmawan, immediately react strongly to the incident.

In a press conference after the match, Rahmad said that this incident was a serious violation that tarnished sportsmanship.

"They played with 12 players and there are recordings. We will send an official letter to the PSSI Komdis," said Rahmad Darmawan at the time.
