Indonesian Rock Climbing Controls Podium At Speed IFSC Masters 2023

Indonesian rock climbing athletes buy five medals at IFSC Masters 2023 (doc. PBTI).

JAKARTA - Indonesian rock climbing athletes in the men's and women's speed numbers have made the name Red and White again. They dominated the podium at the 2023 IFSC Masters in Saudi Arabia, November 22-24, 2023.

Five medals were won, three of which were a clean sweep of medals in the women's speed number.

Three Indonesian women's speed athletes managed to win three medals at once after the all Indonesian final took place in the top party which brought together Rajiah Salsabillah and Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi.

Rajiah Salsabillah managed to come out victorious and was entitled to a gold medal after successfully recording a time of 6.72 seconds. He outperformed his compatriot, Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi, who was only able to record a time of 6.88 seconds or win a silver medal.

In the small final that determined the third place, another Indonesian women's speed athlete, Amanda Narda Mutia, also managed to make sure to become the third place.

He won a bronze medal after defeating Poland's opponent, Natalia Kalucka, with a time of 6.91 seconds ahead of the opponent who recorded a time of 7.23 seconds.

With this result, Indonesian women's speed athletes managed to wipe out all medals in the women's speed number at the 2023 IFSC Masters.

Shifting to the men's sector, two medals were won. Indonesian men's speed athletes won one gold medal and one bronze through Veddriq Leonardo and Rahmad Adi Mulyono.

Veddriq memastikan membawa pulang medali emas setelah mampu mengalahkan lawan asal Ukraina, Yaroslav Tkach, di partai final dengan catatan waktu 5,07 detik. Sementara sang lawan hanya memasek waktu 5,34 detik.

Meanwhile, Rahmad Adi Mulyono won bronze after finishing the match for third or small-finals with a record time of 5.43 seconds defeating the opponent from Kazakhstan, Amir Maimuratov, who was in a fall.

The brilliant achievement of the men's and women's speed athletes marked the seriousness of Indonesia's preparations for next year's competition, especially towards the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The coach of the Indonesian Rock Climbing National Team, Hendra Basir, said that Indonesian male and female athletes are indeed being prepared to face several competitions next year to get the rest tickets for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The achievements of our sons and daughters athletes today are indeed we have prepared for training in advance. We are indeed serious about facing future competitions, especially in the face of competitions that determine the qualification towards the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics," he said.

In line with the coach, the General Chair of the Indonesian Rock Climbing Federation, Yenny Wahid, supports all team preparations for the upcoming international competition, especially preparations for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

"Towards 2024, we really support all the preparations for athletes to face the upcoming competition, especially the 2024 Paris Olympics. We both know that we already have two representatives of Indonesian athletes there (the 2024 Paris Olympics)."

"Hopefully, these two athletes will be maximal to appear later in the Olympics and of course we also hope that there will still be other athletes who will follow the two in the upcoming qualifications," he said.

The IFSC Masters 2023 Saudi Arabia is the last international competition facing Indonesian rock climbing athletes this year. They will return to compete in other international competitions next year. There are several more qualifications to determine the qualifying for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
