JAKARTA Francesco Bagnaia has hunted for a record consecutive world champion in the final MotoGP 2023 series to be level with the score of Valentino Rossi and Marc Marquez.

The Italian racer came to the Ricardo Tormo Circuit to take part in the final round on November 24-26 2023 with the title of defending champion.

If he wins, he will automatically side by side with Rossi and Marquez as the rider who has won in a row since the MotoGP era in 2002.

"From my memory, only Vale (Valentino Rossi) and Marc (Marquez) did it," Bagnaia said as quoted by Crash.

Currently Bagnaia leads the standings with a collection of 437 points. He leads 21 points over Spanish title competitor Jorge Martin.

To become a champion, Bagnaia only needs to collect 16 points from the sprint race results and the main race. If that scenario occurs, both drivers will have the same points as 453.

If in the same point position, Bagnaia will certainly win. You see, he won more major races, which is six times compared to Martin's four times.

"It would be great to be able to achieve a goal like this. However, it was something I could only think about afterward. Now I have to think about racing and I know it's a good track for us," Bagnaia said.

If he wins the title this weekend, Bagnaia will be the first racer since Marquez (2018) and 2019 who won in a row.
