514 Thousand Sold Out, U-17 World Cup Tickets Exceed FIFA's Target

JAKARTA - The 2023 U-17 World Cup has turned out to be a spectacle that is of interest to the Indonesian people. They are enthusiastic about watching matches from teams around the world.

Up to the last 16 total tickets distributed in four venues, Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium, Manahan Stadium, Si Jalak Harupat Stadium, and Jakarta International Stadium reached 514.000 tickets.

With this number, this means that the average level of spectators who come to the stadium in each match reaches 11,681 people.

They watched a total of 44 matches until the round of 16. This number is considered to have exceeded the target given by FIFA, which is 10,000 spectators for each match.

"We are certainly grateful for the high interest in the U-17 World Cup audience which exceeded the target set by FIFA," said Chairman of the U-17 World Cup Committee who is also PSSI General Chair Erick Thohir, Thursday (23/22/2023).

"This proves that the U-17 World Cup is an entertaining and interesting spectacle for the audience," he said.

The average number will increase considering the tournament is getting closer to its peak as it enters the quarter-finals.

Interestingly, the teams that qualified for the top 8 on average were seeded such as Spain, Germany, Brazil, Argentina, France, Mali and Morocco.

Only Uzbekistan was not taken into account before making a surprise by getting rid of the UK.

The competition for the top four will begin with a match between Spain U-17 vs Germany U-17 which will take place at the Jakarta International Stadium, Friday (26/11/2023) at 15.30 WIB. Then followed by the match between Argentina U-17 vs Brazil U-17 at 19.00 WIB.

"The big 8 match will be an interesting spectacle, especially with the world's classic match at JIS between Brazil vs Argentina and Spain vs Germany. This is a game that is a shame to miss," said Erick.

Furthermore, the match between France U-17 and Uzbekistan U-17 took place at the Manahan Stadium, Solo, Saturday (25/11/2023) at 15.30 WIB.

Followed by the Mali U-17 match against Morocco U-17 in the same place at 19.00 WIB.

"Yang tak kalah menarik laga 8 besar di Solo mempertemukan salah satu favorit juara pihak dengan satu-satunya wakil Asia Uzbekistan. Selain itu Derby Afrika yang tetap menarik disaksikan," ujar Erick.
