FIFA U-17 World Cup Participants Profile 2023: Poland, Back After 24 Years

JAKARTA - Poland returned to the U-17 World Cup, after a 24-year absence from the tournament. At the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup Indonesia, Poland was in D along with Japan, Senegal, and Argentina.

After about 24 years of not participating, Poland returned to the global stage by coming to Indonesia. Poland's move starts on November 11, 2023 at Si Jalak Harupat Stadium in Bandung with Japan. Kickoff is scheduled to start at 16.00 WIB.

Poland's second match in the group phase will be played on November 14, 2023 at Si Jalak Harupat Stadium with Senegal. The match between the two teams is scheduled to start at 16.00 WIB.

In Poland's last match in the group stage, November 17, 2023, will host Argentia at the Jakarta International Stadium. Poland's last match in Group D of the U-17 World Cup will start at 16.00 WIB.

Poland departed for Indonesia after winning convincing victories over Ireland and Hungary to compete for the knockout stages of the U-17 European Championships.

It was their first appearance in U-17 Europe since 2012. A dramatic 3-2 win over Serbia in the quarter-finals that confirmed their place in Indonesia's FIFA U-17 World Cup.

But Poland's move was brought down by Germany, after losing 5-3 in the semi-finals. And now Poland's performance is the responsibility of the concoctor Wlodarski.

He brought his team's hopes back to the final round of the U-17 competition. Wlodarski has the habit of implementing an interesting football style that raises the country's optimism that it can escape the Group D elimination which is quite competitive.

Wlodarski used to implement a 3-5-2 system, which allowed Poland to score 16 goals in five matches in the European U-17 finals.

In the next performance, Poland scored five goals over big teams like England and Belgium in recent times.

This shows the system and concoction that Wlodarski brings, currently in his best form.

In Indonesia Poland has Daniel Mikolanewski, a young forward who is a star, from a number of young Polish players. Mikolanewski appeared prominent in the final round of European competitions, scoring two goals in the knockout stages.

Currently, he and the youth team of Parma are one of the players that should be watched out for by the 2023 Indonesian U-17 World Cup contestants.

The 2023 edition of the U-17 World Cup, will be Poland's third appearance in the finals. Their first appearance was obtained in 1993, when the team at that time consisted of players like Miroslaw Szykowiak, able to reach the semifinals.

They were eliminated by Nigeria in the semifinals and lost third place against Chile. The country returned six years later, but left New Zealand in the group stage without a win on their behalf.

Poland U-17 will meet Argentina, Senegal, and Japan for the first time in the U-17 World Cup finals in Indonesia. A travel record that is not believed to be easy to pass.
