JAKARTA The men's singles badminton player, Alwi Farhan, debuted at the Super 300 BWF level at the Korea Masters 2023 sweetly.

He defeated the men's singles Chinese Taipei or Taiwan, Lin Kuan-Ting 21-15 and 21-10 in the first round of qualifying at the Gwangju Women's University Stadium, Tuesday, November 7, 2023.

This victory is also Alwi's revenge against Lin. In the only previous clash at the Indonesia International Challenge 2022, Alwi was made to give up two games.

"Saying thank you can be given a win in the first match. This is my revans after losing in the previous meeting," said Alwi after the match.

"I learned from the first meeting, I don't want to rush to attack. I try to control the tempo of the game," he added.

Alwi still has to face one more game to fight for one ticket to the main round.

The next challenge that this 18-year-old badminton player has to face is against compatriot Lin, namely Kuo Kuan Lin. Previously, Alwi and Kuo had never faced each other.

"In the qualifying final this afternoon I want to focus again, correcting the mistakes that were still being made," said Alwi.

"The window was okay enough and I want to continue it, fight all out to get a ticket to the main round," he added.

Alwi is one of two men's singles sent by Indonesia to the Korea Masters this year. The other men's singles are Shesar Hiren Rhustavito who went straight into the main round.
