JAKARTA - MotoGP organizers praised the Mandalika Circuit for being the location for the MotoGP Indonesia, October 13-15. The safety Officer of the MotoGP FIM, Tome Alfonso said, the Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA) as the manager of the Mandalika Circuit managed to make some progress.
The parameter of praise revealed by Alfonso was during the inaugural event last season. At that time, there were many criticisms for the Mandalika Circuit because it was dirty and also poor asphalt quality, thus making the track peel.
"They have quite a lot of time to work. Since the last MotoGP was held there (2022), there have been some progress," Tome Alfonso was quoted as saying by YouTube MotoGP on Thursday, October 12.
"So basically the re-laying of the circuit has been completed, and the fact is that the WSBK race is already running," Alfonso added.
Before the second MotoGP at the Mandalika Circuit took place, there was a WSBK which was held first. in preparation, the MGPA continues to make better breakthroughs based on the input received.
One of them is about the trajectory directly carried out by MGPA with a re-paling in October 2022, or before WSBK Mandalika 2022 which will be held in November.
"And of course when WSBK is finished, the first thing we will do immediately is talk to racers and get input from them, and that's quite positive," said Alonso.
"Based on the information we got from the WSBK racer, the (MotoGP) race should have been held in normal conditions and according to plan," he continued.
After seeing the better track quality after the re-paling, Tome Alfonso admitted that he was very enthusiastic about watching the Mandalika 2023 MotoGP.
"We feel quite confident (Mandalika 2023 MotoGP) will be more promising than the previous race after coating the track again," said Alfonso.
