Observer: Pertamina Is Not Only Able To Realize Energy Self-Sufficiency

JAKARTA - Business economic observer Acuviarta Kartabi assesses that entering the 67th age Pertamina already has a solid and well-performing foundation. For this reason, he is optimistic that the BUMN energy is not only able to realize energy self-sufficiency, but also contributes more and greater to the national economy. Including support for increasing economic growth to 8 percent, according to President Prabowo Subianto's target.

"From financial reports, the company's performance has always increased quite significantly. For that, I am optimistic and hope that Pertamina will be able to realize self-sufficiency in energy. Therefore, Pertamina must also continue to improve performance, starting from upstream oil and gas to downstream, distribution," said Acuviarta to the media today, Wednesday 25 December.

But this is indeed the challenge. For this reason, Acuviarta also hopes that, at the age of 67, Pertamina will continue to increase its role in energy transitions, such as the development of biofuels.

"Because of the limited fossil energy, Pertamina must continue to innovate in the energy sector, including EBTK such as biofuels. In addition to supporting the achievement of the Net Zero Emission target, it is also in the context of sustainable development and green energy," he explained.

Pertamina, continued Acuviarta, also needs to further strengthen the distribution and efficiency side in the oil and gas procurement process.

"Because the value is there," he said.

Regarding expansion abroad, Acuviarta calls it a positive business effort. Acuviarta agrees that these efforts can support the realization of energy self-sufficiency.

"If you look at Pertamina's company's business plan, there will be a plan for oil and gas field management abroad. This needs to be done to support domestic products, in the context of Pertamina going global and in realizing energy self-sufficiency," he explained.

That's why Acuviarta is also sure that Pertamina is not only able to realize energy independence. In addition, Pertamina is also said to be able to increase the contribution of the national economy.

"I believe that the contribution will increase more because the foundation, such as business restructuring, has been carried out. Including to support 8 percent economic growth as expected by Pak Prabowo, because one of them is from the energy sector. This energy also does not stand alone, but is also related to transportation, industry and so on. So it has a multidimensional impact," concluded Acuviarta.
