2023 Asian Games Gold Medal Becomes Milestone in Indonesian Shooting History

JAKARTA – Indonesia's first gold medal in the shooting sport at the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, also made history.

This amazing achievement was carved by Muhammad Sejahtera Dwi Putra. He was the best in the men's 10-meter running target at the Fuyang Yinhu Sports Center, Monday, September 25, 2023.

This result also became the first gold awarded by the Indonesian shooting team since shooting was contested at the 1954 Asian Games.

"Of course, we are very grateful for the first gold award given by shooting," said Chairman of the Indonesian Olympic Committee (NOC Indonesia) Raja Sapta Oktohari.

"Not only is it the first in the Hangzhou Asian Games, but also the first in Indonesia's participation in the Asian Games," he added.

Sejahtera Dwi was entitled to the gold piece after scoring a total score of 578 with an average of 9,633 points from six shots. The details are 99, 97, 95, 95, 94, 98.

He was ahead of Vietnamese shooter Huu Vuong Ngo who won a silver medal and South Korean shooter You Jin Jeong who took home a bronze medal.

So far, the total number of medals that Indonesia has won at the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games is six. The details consist of one gold, one silver and four bronze.

Indonesia came to Hangzhou with a strength of 413 athletes who competed in 202 competition numbers, 41 disciplines, 30 sports. Of that number, Merah Putih targets to get 12 gold medals at this quadrennial event.
