JAKARTA - It is certain that Liverpool will still be able to use the services of Alexis Mac Allister in the third week of the 2023/2024 English Premier League despite receiving a red card in the previous match. The reason is that the appeal submitted by Liverpool was accepted by the English Football Federation (FA).

Mac Allister when he received a direct red card from referee Thomas Bramall when he violated AFC Bournemouth player, Ryan Christie, in the match which took place on Saturday, 19 August. However, the Reds later appealed.

The FA then confirmed that an independent regulatory commission ruled that the red card was not justified and the midfielder, who was brought in by the Reds from Brighton & Hove Albion, was free from a red card penalty.

Previously, he threatened to miss three Liverpool matches. The three matches were against Newcastle United (27 August), Aston Villa (3 September) and Wolverhampton Wanderers (16 September).

"Alexis Mac Allister will not serve suspension after successfully appealing the red card he received during Saturday's win over AFC Bournemouth," read a statement on the club's official website on Wednesday.

"The club's appeal against the suspension has now been approved by the Independent Regulatory Commission, meaning Mac Allister is eligible for selection when the Reds travel to Newcastle United on Sunday," the statement added.

Mac Allister is believed to be Jurgen Klopp's choice again in the match against Newcastle. He will be a duet with two other new Liverpool players, Dominik Szoboszlai and Wataru Endo, from the first minute.

Mac Allister's role at Liverpool has been so important since the team based at Anfield lost five midfielders in the transfer market this summer, Jordan Henderson (Al Ettifaq), Fabinho (Al Ittihad), James Milner (Brighton), Naby Keita (Werder Bremen), and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (Besiktas).

The 24-year-old midfielder has always played since the first minute in the two Reds matches against Chelsea and Bournemouth.

From these two matches, Mac Allister helped his team win one win and one draw so that his team sits in fifth place in the English Premier League standings with four points.
