Just Debuted, Apik Adrian/Felisha Open Indonesia's Victory Over Vietnam At BAJC 2023

JAKARTA - Mixed doubles Adrian Pratama/Felisha Alberta Nathaniel Pasaribu opened the scoring for the Indonesian team when they faced Vietnam in Group A of the 2023 Badminton Junior Asia Championship (BAJC) in Yogyakarta, Saturday.

Although he admitted that he had difficulty adapting, the Indonesian duo finally defeated Van Truong Pham/Bich Phuong Bui two straight games 21-15, 21-12 in the first match at GOR Among Rogo.

"We had difficulty adapting to the field. Windy field conditions made it a little difficult for us. This condition is much different from the training time, so we had a bit of trouble," said Adrian through official PP PBSI information in Jakarta.

The couple, who just debuted at AJC 2023, are still adapting to windy field conditions. This condition was used by the Vietnamese couple to suppress Adrian/Felisha.

Luckily Adrian/Felisha were able to get out of pressure and close the first game with a 21-15 advantage.

In the second game Adrian/Felisha was more comfortable so it didn't take long to close the match within 32 minutes with 21-12.

The victory increased the confidence of Adrian/Felisha. Both said they were satisfied with their game in the first match and hoped that their good trend could continue.

"It's nice to be able to win this match. Moreover, we just got together. We debuted by winning, hopefully the results can be satisfying," said Felisha.

After this victory, Adrian/Felisha will focus on recovery in preparation for their next match against the Chinese team on Sunday.

"After this we want to recover first. Against China in the next party. We are mentally preparing and must focus from the start if it is later lowered," said Adrian.

"China, Japan, Korea, and Taiwan are tough opponents who still control badminton in Asia. We have to be vigilant," added Felisha.

With Adrian/Felisha's victory, Indonesia temporarily took the lead with a score of 1-0 over Vietnam. The Garuda Muda squad has the opportunity to double the position when the kedu party, which plays the men's singles sector, will be represented by Indonesian team captain Alwi Farhan.
