The chronology of the cancellation of the 2023 World Beach Games in Bali is one of the questionable things. In fact, the Island of the Gods has been appointed to host the international sporting event. Unfortunately, the Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI) was forced to withdraw as the host.

The Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) itself announced Bali's withdrawal on Tuesday, July 4, 2023. They said that the decision taken was sudden and disappointing. "With great shock and great disappointment, ANOC learned that the Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI) has withdrawn from its commitment to host the ANOC World Beach Games and the ANOC General Assembly in August 2023," reads ANOC's official statement.

As is known, the ANOC World Beach Games (AWBG) is one of the largest multi-branch sports competitions in Indonesia. There are various kinds of Anoc World Beach Games that are played on the beach.

The AWBG competition was first held in Doha, Qatar, in 2019. Meanwhile, this year is the second AWBG edition which is planned to be held in Bali from 5 to 12 August 2023. Bali's certainty as the host of AWBG was announced by the Chairman of the ANOC Interim, Robin Mitchell, on 10 June.

After Bali was announced as the host of AWBG, came the spotlight that attracted the attention of the public, one of which was related to the participation of Israeli athletes in the 2023 Bali AWBG. One of the Israeli athletes who was confirmed to have escaped from the 2023 World Beach Games was Eva Fabian, who is the 5 Km women's sports athlete Open Water Swimming.

As is known, the public's rejection of Israeli athletes was indeed widely discussed, even before the AWBG event. The rejection occurred when Indonesia canceled hosting the 2023 U20 World Cup.

One of the rejections was also voiced by the Governor of Bali, Wayan Koster. He said that his rejection of Israel was based on the Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia and the Regulation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs (Permenlu).

However, in AWBG it was confirmed that there was no name for Israel in the 2023 World Beach Games. This was also conveyed by the Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Dito Ariotedjo on 27 April.

"No problem, the Olympic Committee has released the country that participated on April 27. I don't see the name Israel." said Dito Ariotedjo.

Unfortunately, before one month before the implementation of the 2023 AWBG, ANOC surprisingly announced that Bali was stepping down as the host of AWBC. The reason for the cancellation of the 2023 World Beach Games in Bali is because of the budget from the Government that has not been disbursed. ANOC also admitted that he was very disappointed because with the schedule of the event which will take place soon, namely one month, it is considered difficult to find a replacement for the new host AWBC 2023.
