Officially Join Manchester United, Mason Mount Warisi Number Cristiano Ronaldo

JAKARTA - The process of transferring Mason Mount from Chelsea to Manchester United has finally been completed. The England national team player became the Red Devils' first signing in the transfer market this summer.

Mount was bought by Manchester United with a dowry of 55 million, plus 5 million. He was tied to a contract until 2028. "Mason Mount has joined Manchester United on a contract until June 2028, with the option of an extension for one year," Manchester United said in a statement on the club's official website on Wednesday, July 5. "Mason Mount will certainly wear the number 7 at his new club, which has been vacant since late last year after being left by Cristiano Ronaldo.Mount actually still leaves another year's contract at Chelsea. However, he left Chelsea after appearing 279 times, scoring 58 goals and 53 assists since breaking into Chelsea's senior team in 2017. With the Blues, he has won the Champions League (2020/21), UEFA Super Cup (2021), and Club World Cup (2021).

The 24-year-old midfielder has also played 36 times for England's senior national team and played an important role as his country reaches the 2021 European Cup final, despite being beaten by Italy.Mount admits it's hard to leave a club that has been strengthened since childhood, but he is now welcoming the arrival of new challenges at different clubs. "It's not easy to leave the club where we grew up big, but Manchester United will put new challenges in the next phase of my career," said Mount on the official MU website, as quoted via Antara. "I can't wait to be part of this group to win major trophies. I will give everything to win trophies again at Manchester United.... Manchester United Football Director John Murtough said he was happy his club was able to get Mount's services. "Mason is a smart footballer and shows the quality of fantastic techniques that can have a significant impact on our squad," Murtough said. "Playing and his attributes match this squad, and we are all sure he will develop under Erik ten Hag and his coaching staff."
