JAKARTA - The plan to carry out a forensic audit of the financial records of the All-Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) does not seem to be just a figment. PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir did not mess with his words in collaboration with the firm Ernst & Young.

Three auditors of the firm Ernst & Young are known to have visited the PSSI office, Wednesday, April 26. Their arrival is the first step in exploring.

As reported by PSSI's official website, the three immediately dug up the initial information from PSSI's financial manager.

"This is proof that I really want to clean up, both PSSI and in the League. In this early stage, we went to PSSI first, because as the parent organization we can be traced starting from the rules, policies, inter-institutional relations, for example with PT LIB, forms of cooperation to financial structure," said Erick Thohir, as reported by PSSI's official website.

"I have ordered the Secretary General to open all data so that it can be audited optimally," he continued.

In this first stage, both parties agreed to make a verdict on the plan to carry out a forensic audit or the best investigation of PSSI's financial records. This is in accordance with the MoU between PSSI and Ernst & Young which was signed on April 21.

At this initial meeting, the auditors asked for the included data, legal entities, the organizational structure of PSSI, financial reports from 2017 to 2023, financial transactions, the account system used, the allocation of the use of sources of funds from FIFA and AFC, as well as cooperative relations with PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) as the operator of the League 1 and League 2 competitions.

"As I said yesterday, this audit is crucial so that there is clarity and improvement in financial management of all Indonesian football stakeholders," said the Minister of SOEs.

"This football belongs to the people. We who are assigned to clean up must take a stand to be open so that it can be accounted for. I don't want anyone to blame or drop each other," he concluded.
