PBSI Can't Guarantee Fadia To Appear In Indonesia Masters 2023

JAKARTA - The recovery from the injury of the Indonesian women's doubles badminton player, Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti, is showing positive signs. However, her chance to appear at the Indonesia Masters next week is still a question mark.

Fadia injured her right ankle in the semifinals of the Malaysia Open 2023, Saturday, January 14. A magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) test was also carried out last Sunday.

The head of the PBSI Pelatnas Medical Team, Nicolas Budhiparama, revealed that Fadia's treatment and healing process had gone quite well. Observations are still being made to see how long Fadia has to rest.

"Our team of doctors at the time of the incident immediately communicated with those on the field, coaches, physiotherapists, and doctors. The data we got there was immediately sent here and we studied it," said Nico.

Apart from the MRI test, the medical team has also carried out physiotherapy treatment to find out how serious Fadia's injury is.

Pelatnas doctor, Grace Joselini Corlesa, said that the decision to return to the field for an athlete after an injury must still be calculated carefully regardless of the level of injury.

"If we look at the injuries, they tend to be mild, but we still have to make the right decisions, regardless of the level of injuries, be it mild, moderate, or severe. We communicate everything, especially to Prof. Nico," she said.

"We really have to think about the decision to return to the field so we don't sacrifice the next matches, but we hope for a positive one for Fadia. We will continue to evaluate it further until the D-day approaches to the Indonesia Masters," she added.

In line with Grace, the PBSI women's doubles trainer, Eng Hian, also doesn't want to be too hasty to return to playing Apri/Fadia even though the recovery process is going well.

"But we will see first whether the progress of the movement has been significant enough or not, but from the injury, there is nothing to worry about at all, it just still needs treatment," said Eng Hian.

"As a coach, I shouldn't think about just one tournament but think more about the long term. If the conditions aren't ready by the end of this week, I won't force Apri/Fadia to participate in the Indonesia Masters," he added.
