After Juve Beat Benfica, Bonucci Says Fans Have The Right To Ridicule His Team

JAKARTA - Juventus captain, Leonardo Bonucci did not mind the ridicule from fans following his team's defeat in the Champions League. Bonucci actually said it was the right of the fans.

"It's natural for the fans to boo us, there's not much to argue about there", Bonucci was quoted as saying by Football Italia on Thursday.

Bonucci's statement came after Juventus appeared in the second match of the 2022/2023 Champions League which took place Thursday, September 15 in the morning WIB. In that Group H match, the Bianconeri met Benfica at the Allianz Stadium.

Even though she appeared in front of her own supporters, in fact, the Old Lady could not present a victory. Massimiliano Allegri's team actually lost 1-2 to the visitors.

"We lost a game we should have won. It's fair that we were booed. I'm the captain, I have to take responsibility. We are going through a period where we struggle to do anything", Bonucci continued about the state of his team.

Bonucci openly does not mind the ridicule that comes for Juventus. But, besides that, he is still worried about the condition of his team which has not been doing well lately.

"I'm afraid there's no point in denying it (the ridicule). Unfortunately, we tend to lose our way during the game. I don't know why it happened and that's what worries me the most."

The result against Benfica is Juventus' second bad record in the Champions League because they also lost in their inaugural match against Paris Saint-Germain. In addition, in the domestic Serie A competition, Juventus also did not shine too much. Allegri's team has only managed to win two of the six they have played.
