Jonathan Christie Has More Motivation At The 2022 Malaysia Open, An Event To Make Up For Failure

JAKARTA - Indonesian men's singles, Jonatan Christie, has more motivation in facing the Malaysia Open 2022. He wants to avenge the failures in the Indonesia Masters and Indonesia Open, some time ago.

The failure made Jonathan Christie failed to get many points. Now, he is eyeing the target to get as many points as possible in order to maintain his rank in the top 10 badminton players in the world's men's singles.

"There is definitely a higher motivation in this tournament, because when playing at the Indonesia Masters and Indonesia Open, you can't get many points. Here I want to get more points, as much as possible," said Jonatan Christie, as quoted by Antara.

The player who is familiarly called Jojo made sure his condition was good enough to start the Super 750 level tournament this week. He was ready to anticipate the situation on the field.

In the first match, Jonathan will face the representative of India, Sameer Verma. "The conditions are quite good, the best thing is to anticipate the situation on the field which is quite windy," he said.

Apart from Jonathan, the Red and White squad also relies on Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, Shesar Hiren Rhustavito, Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo, and Tommy Sugiarto in the men's singles sector. You could say, the men's singles team fielded the best squad in the tournament which will take place at the Axiata Arena, Kuala Lumpur.

The men's singles coach, Irwansyah, said that his students' preparations were okay and it was just a matter of maintaining focus and stamina. Meanwhile, for technical aspects such as wind conditions, according to him, this is an unpredictable factor and must be faced at any cost.

"For the technique and pattern of the game as usual, training is also good. It's just a matter of how now to keep your focus and stamina so that it doesn't go down. Indeed, the wind is a bit strong, but your opponent must feel the same way," he concluded.
