Can Only Last 1 Round, Adrian Mattheis Loses To Alex Silva Through Submission In ONE 158

JAKARTA - Indonesian fighter Adrian Mattheis had to acknowledge the prowess of former ONE Strawweight world champion Alex Silva in his ONE 158 rematch at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, Singapore, Friday night.

Adrian Mattheis could only last one round in resisting the onslaught of the Brazilian fighter. Alex Silva put in a superb display in that bout, finishing off the rising Indonesian star with a clever submission in a much-anticipated rematch.

Quoting Antara, Saturday, Alex Silva continued to press throughout the match and made Adrian Mattheis unable to get out of submission and finally surrendered via an inside heel hook in the first round. The victory earned Silva an appearance bonus of 50 thousand US dollars.

The victory over Adrian Mattheis is clearly a source of pride for Alex Silva because in the first meeting on March 11, he lost to the Indonesian fighter nicknamed the Papua Badboy. It's just that the match was considered controversial so there had to be a rematch.

In the main match, ranked #5 in the Muay Thai featherweight class Tawanchai PK.Saenchai successfully dominated the fight against Danish newcomer, Niclas Larsen. The Thai fighter completed the fight in the second round.

Tawanchai PK.Saenchai appeared with a precise and strong attack to dominate Larsen from the start of the match. Larsen who was nicknamed “Dreamchaser” could not match the intensity of Tawanchai's attack so the representative from PK.Saenchai managed to get a quick knockdown after launching a series of combination attacks in the first round.

Larsen managed to get back up and move on to the next round, but he had to face more difficulties as the fight continued. In the second round, Tawanchai hit a straight left in the middle of the Circle to score another knockdown. Larsen was not able to beat the referee's count.

With this win, Tawanchai is entitled to a chance to fight for the ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Title Petchmorakot Petchyindee, as well as a US$50,000 bonus.
