Crying After Making Sure AS Roma Qualify For The European Conference League Final, Mourinho: My Emotions Represent The Supporters

JAKARTA - AS Roma coach, Jose Mourinho couldn't hold back tears of joy after his team won 1-0 over Leicester City in the semifinals of the 2021/2022 European Conference League on Friday, May 6 in the morning WIB.

The victory that was created at the Stadio Olimpico through Tammy Abraham's single goal brought il Lupi to qualify for the final. When referee Sran Jovanovic blew the whistle to mark the end of the match, it was at this moment that Mourinho was seen shedding tears.

About why he was crying, the coach admitted that it was a spontaneous emotional expression. He felt happy and proud that his team had made it to the final.

“Why am I crying? Because I feel what they all (the fans) feel. It's a giant club with no trophy room for the club's social interests", Mourinho said.

Mourinho also said, crying at that time was an overflow of joy that he felt. His expression represents what the happy fans felt when the team qualified.

"I know what this means for these people and my emotions represent them. I am lucky to be in such a prestigious final and this makes me so special."

The coach's outburst of expression didn't seem excessive, because decades ago, this moment became the first major European party for Il Lupi.

Previously AS Roma had appeared in the Champions League final in the 1983/1984 season, but at that time they failed to win because they lost to Liverpool. In addition, the capital's squad also appeared in the Europa League final when it was still named the UEFA Cup in 1990/1991 which resulted in the defeat of Inter Milan.

In 2022/2022 European Conference League AS Roma will face Feyenoord who beat Olympique Marseille in the semifinals. The meeting of the two teams will take place at the Arena Kombetare Stadium in Albania on May 26.
