Indonesian U-23 National Team Beats Andong 4-2 In First Trial

JAKARTA – The Indonesian U-23 national team successfully won their inaugural South Korea test match. Shin Tae-yong's squad won over Andong Science College.

This trial took place at Haemaji Football Field, South Korea, on Thursday, April 21, 2022. Garuda's squad came out victorious with a final score of 4-2.

Indonesia has been aggressive since the football referee's whistle was blown. As a result, the match has only been running for seven minutes, Shin's squad immediately scored a superior goal through Irfan Jaya's kick which failed to be anticipated even though it was read by the opposing goalkeeper.

A quarter of an hour later, the second goal for the Red and White squad was immediately born. Indonesia was awarded a penalty by the referee and maximized well by Muhammad Ridwan as the executor.

However, before halftime Andong managed to reduce the position in the 33rd minute. The result was a 2-1 score that lasted until the referee blew the whistle marking the match entering the break.

In the second round, Shin Tae-yong decided to reform his squad massively. He took the policy to include nine new players.

The entry of nine new players did not immediately have an effect on the game. Instead of adding a goal, Indonesia actually conceded in the 56th minute so the score became as strong as 2-2.

After a draw, it took Indonesia quite a long time to come out victorious. They only scored a goal in the last two minutes of normal time and minutes of added time before the game ended.

The two winning goals were scored by Ronaldo Kwateh and Irfan Jauhari, respectively.

Indonesia is still facing a number of more trials during the training camp in Korea, which is scheduled to be completed on April 28. The next two trials are against Pohang Steelers and Daejeon Hana Citizen.
