Two NBA Clubs Kick Coach After Regular Season Ends, One Of Them LA Lakers

JAKARTA - The Los Angeles Lakers have finally formalized the dismissal of Frank Vogel from the position of head coach. This announcement comes just one day after the NBA regular season ended.

This dismissal cannot be separated from Vogel's failure to deliver the Lakers to the NBA playoffs this season. In fact, LeBron James and his friends also failed to get tickets to the play-in tournament after only finishing in 11th position!

Lakers general manager Rob Palinka respects Vogel. He called the 48-year-old a great coach.

"We will always be grateful for his hard work in bringing the 2019/2020 NBA title. This is a tough decision, but something we feel is necessary at this point," said Palinka, as reported by Antara.

Vogel became the 27th head coach to coach the Lakers in the NBA. In his inaugural season, he was fairly successful by embracing the NBA title. However, this season the team's performance dropped dramatically.

In addition to the LA Lakers, the NBA team that also kicked out its coach was the Sacramento Kings. They released the new interim head coach Alvin Gentry to replace Luke Walton who was sacked in the middle of the 2021/2022 regular season.

Kings plans to find a new captain. Several names have been targeted, including Mike D'Antoni, Mike Brown, Steve Clifford, and Terry Stotts.

"The entire Kings organization is grateful for the leadership of Alvin Gentry, who took over when needed mid-season," said Kings general manager Monte McNair on the NBA's official club website.
