PBSI Withdraws 8 Women's Doubles Pairs From Orleans Masters 2022, Eng Hian: Apriyani And Rebekah In The Process Of Healing

JAKARTA – A total of eight Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) women's doubles pairs have been withdrawn from participating in the 2022 Orleans Masters badminton event which will start from Tuesday, March 29 to Sunday, April 3.

The pair drawn were Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti/Apriyani Rahayu, Nita Violina Marwah/Putri Syaikah, Ribka Sugiarto/Febby Valencia Dwijayanti Gani, and Febriana Dwi Puji Kusuma/Amalia Cahaya Pratiwi.

Then there are Melani Mamahit/Tryola Nadia, Lanny Tria Mayasari/Jesita Putri Miantoro, Rachel Allessya Rose/Meilysa Trias Puspitasari, and Kelly Larissa/Savira Nurul Husnia.

"Apriyani, Rebekah, and Putri Syaikah are still in the process of healing their injuries. So I decided to withdraw their participation in Orleans," said women's doubles coach Eng Hian in an official statement.

Meanwhile, the other pairs that were drawn were the pairs that were included in the coach's back-to-back tournament program.

Included in the program, namely the Polish International Challenge. However, due to the unsafe situation, the PBSI decided not to participate in the tournament in Poland.

This makes the coaching team feel it should not be necessary if it is only one tournament to Europe by looking at travel times and evaluating performance targets.

Eng Hian explained that these young players are still in the top 100. So we need a back-to-back tournament. Therefore, he has made a tournament program for them in June.

"Players who are programmed to take part in the Orleans Masters are still ranked above the top 100 and need more back-to-back tournaments at a level that matches their current capacity," said Eng Hian.

In addition to the women's doubles pair, the men's doubles pair Teges Satriaji Cahyo Hutomo/Christopher David Wijaya also resigned for more or less the same reason. Meanwhile, Gregoria Mariska Tunjung was withdrawn because she still had to recover after being exposed to the COVID-19 virus.
