Positive For COVID-19, Gregoria Mariska Can't Compete At Swiss Open 2022

JAKARTA – Gregoria Mariska Tunjung is confirmed to be absent from the 2022 Swiss Open. This is because she has just been confirmed positive for COVID-19.

The women's singles badminton player was known to be exposed to the coronavirus based on the results of a PCR test on Sunday, March 20, 2022.

The Head of  Coaching and Achievement of the Indonesian Badminton Association (Binpres PP PBSI) Rionny Mainaky said that Gregoria had complained of not feeling well since arriving at All England.

"On March 20 he had a fever and sore throat," said Rionny, in a written statement received by VOI.

The team then underwent a PCR test on March 20 anyway with Gregoria complaining of a fever and sore throat.

The test was carried out for departure to Switzerland and return to Jakarta. From the results of this test, it is known that Gregoria has been exposed to COVID-19.

Currently, Gregoria must undergo quarantine in Birmingham. He was accompanied by the PBSI doctor, dr. Grace Joselini Corlesa.

The Swiss Open runs this week from March 22 to 27 at St. Jakobshalle Basel. Gregoria was supposed to meet Thailand's Busanan Ongbamrungphan in the first match.
