Bilbao Coach Says He's Satisfied His Men Beat Bilbao 3-1

JAKARTA - Athletic Bilbao coach, Marcelino Garcia Toral, said he was satisfied to see his team's performance when they met Levante in the 27th week of the 2021/2022 Spanish League.

Apart from being able to get full points, this victory is also important because it is the moment of Bilbao's revival after being defeated by Valencia in the previous match.

"Very satisfied, it was important to win today after the defeat in Valencia, this victory is satisfying. This performance is full of tricks", said Toral, quoted from AS, Tuesday, March 8.

Before meeting Levante, Bilbao was in a slump. Because, when they appeared against Valencia in the second leg of the Copa del Rey semifinals, they lost on aggregate.

However, that sadness can be repaid through the team's revival in the match against Levante on Tuesday, March 8 in the morning WIB. In the meeting at the San Memes Stadium, Bilbao as the host successfully closed the match by presenting a smile for the fans.

Bilbao won 3-1 over their visitors through goals from Mikel Vesga in the 63rd minute, Inaki Williams in the 76th minute, and Oier Zarraga's penalty was closed in the 88th minute. While the visitors could only reply to one goal in 90+1 extra time.

Despite winning, Bilbao's struggle to get three points at home is also not easy. It was proven by the tight opponent's defense which they could only penetrate in the second half.

Regarding his team's performance in this match, Toral later admitted that the slow game scheme made the Rojiblancos troops start to doubt. But he was happy in the end the team was able to put in a good performance.

"I've had games like this, you start to doubt, with the game and chances clear and the goalkeeper intervening on several occasions. But then the team came out tougher and we scored a goal in the second half which allowed us to win", explained Toral.

This victory over Levante then makes Athletic Bilbao now in 8th position in the Spanish League standings with 48 points. Meanwhile, losing three points further immersed Levante at the bottom of the relegation zone with 18 points.
