Even Though The Indonesian National Team Won 4-1 Over Timor Leste, Shin Tae-yong Admitted He Was Disappointed

JAKARTA - The Indonesian national team successfully closed the trial match against Timor Leste with a 4-1 victory. However, these results apparently still do not meet the expectations of the coach.

Shin Tae-yong felt his team's performance in this match was disappointing and the players should be re-evaluated.

"This match was very, very disappointing. The team's performance was not satisfactory. We must immediately evaluate ourselves so that we can develop better," said Shin Tae-yong after the match, quoted from Antara.

Furthermore, the South Korean coach also had time to vent his emotions to the Garuda squad at the end of the first round. Shin Tae-yong said that his team's performance in this match did not reflect a strong team in Southeast Asia at all.

"With such a performance, we will not be able to become a strong team in Southeast Asia," said Shin Tae-yong.

Regardless of the coach's comments, in the match at I Wayan Dipta Stadium, Bali on Thursday, January 27, the Garuda squad fell behind after Timor Leste striker Paulo Freitas scored in the first half.

Timor Leste could even have been two goals ahead before half-time if Mouzinho de Lima's penalty could not be pushed over by goalkeeper Syahrul Fadillah. However, the Indonesian national team managed to turn things around.

Indonesia finally took the lead thanks to Ricky Kambuaya's contribution, Pratama Arhan's penalty, and an own goal from two East Timorese players, namely Georgino Da Silva and Filomeno Junior in the second half.

After winning in the first meeting which Shin Tae-yong deemed unsatisfactory, the national team still has a chance to perform better because they will meet Timor Leste again in the second tryout on Sunday, January 30 at the same location.
