Jokowi Orders Nawawi To Be Careful In Carrying Out His Duties As Chairman Of The KPK

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo advised the interim chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Nawawi Pomolango to be careful in carrying out his duties. The message was conveyed by Nawawi after taking the oath of office as interim chairman of the KPK at the State Palace, Jakarta, Monday, November 27. "If we only read this expression, if we read it, but there is one saying (President Jokowi), be careful in carrying out tasks, carrying out tasks," said Nawawi. Nawawi said there was a tough task given to the KPK at this time. According to him, the current situation faced by the KPK has been understood by media colleagues and is known to a number of parties. "There was a tough task given to us. Previously, we (I) had carried out this task as deputy chairman (KPK), but then with all the dynamics developing, everything took place, my friends already knew what the situation is now being faced by the KPK until it arrived at a point like this," explained Nawawi. One of the things that is of concern as well as being a burden to the KPK, said Nawawi, is the erosion of public trust in anti-corruption agencies. In fact, he said, public trust is the KPK's capital in carrying out its duties. He stated that he would soon hold a meeting with the leaders and structural officials of echelon 1 and echelon 2 to discuss matters that must be resolved and become a priority scale.

Nawawi said whatever the position or term attached to him at this time, the work system at the KPK is a collegial collective. So, he must discuss with other KPK leaders about urgent matters that need to be done at this time.
