Firli Called KPK No Longer Has Authority After Temporarily Dismissed But Can Go To The Office

Deputy Chairperson of the KPK Johanis Tanak said Firli Bahuri's authority as Chairman of the KPK would be revoked after being dismissed for being a suspect in alleged extortion or receiving gratuities from former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo.

It is known that President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has signed a Presidential Decree (Keppres) to dismiss Firli as Chairman of the KPK and appoint KPK Deputy Chair Nawawi as Acting Chairman of the KPK.

The signing was carried out on Thursday night, November 23.

"If you go to the office, it's fine. Because he was only temporarily dismissed," Johanis said at a press conference at the KPK's Red and White House, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Saturday morning, November 25.

Even so, Firli still won't be able to work.

Because, Johanis said, his colleague's authority to handle legal cases in the anti-corruption commission will be revoked until the legal process is complete.

"The access has been cut off since the president's decision was made. So his access as chairman or as chairman has been temporarily cut off until the legal process is complete," he said.

"Of course, in his position, his duties and authorities were dismissed. He should not make any decisions," continued Johanis.

As previously reported, President Jokowi has signed Presidential Decree on the dismissal of Firli and appointed Nawawi as Acting Chairman of the KPK.

The signing was carried out upon his arrival from a working visit to West Kalimantan.

"The Presidential Decree was signed by President Jokowi at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, Jakarta, Thursday, November 24, 2023 upon arrival from a working visit," said Presidential Special Staff Coordinator Ari Dwipayana to reporters, Thursday night.

This process was carried out after Polda Metro Jaya finished carrying out a case of alleged extortion or receiving gratuities from former Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo. Firli was finally named a suspect.

Some of the evidence that became the basis for determining the suspect was witness testimony and electronic evidence. Meanwhile, the police have examined 91 people in this case.

They include Syahrul Yasin Limpo, former aide to Firli Bahuri, Kevin Egananta. Then there is the Semarang Police Chief Kombes Pol Irwan Anwar, Director of Dumas KPK Tomi Murtomo, as well as two former KPK leaders Saut Situmorang and M Jasin.

Meanwhile, there are about 8 experts consisting of criminal law experts, micro expressions, and procedural law.
