DENPASAR - Bali Immigration deported three Uzbekistann citizens involved in the case of counterfeit money circulation, including overstays in Indonesia.

Head of the Immigration Detention Center (Rudenim) Denpasar Gede Dudy Duwita explained that the three foreigners were previously detained for 21 days at the Rudenim to wait for their financial readiness to buy a flight ticket back to their country.

Three residents of Uzbekistan with the initials YRY, BKUK, and JSUY were previously arrested by Denpasar Immigration officers at the end of October 2023 along with five other people in one of the villas in the Sanur tourist area, Denpasar.

The three foreigners were deported on Friday, via I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Bali.

Apart from exceeding the period of stay, Immigration officers also found violations by finding a number of counterfeit money that was thought to be foreign currency allegedly used to create content on social media related to marketing foreign exchange market activities (trading forex).

However, his party did not mention in more detail the number of counterfeit notes and bills from foreigners. While in Bali, they conduct foreign exchange market marketing by reaping up to 5,000 US dollars per month.

They also did not realize that the travel residence permit in Bali had also expired until 152 days after carrying out the foreign exchange market marketing activity.

Of the eight Uzbekistan foreigners, gradually, so far five people have been expelled from Indonesia and the rest are still waiting for their financial readiness to return home.

In addition to being deported, the five Uzbekistann foreigners are also on Indonesia's entry deterrence list for a maximum of six months and can be extended for a maximum of six months each time.

A lifetime imprisonment can also be imposed on foreigners who are considered to be able to interfere with security and public order. However, a further deterrence decision will be decided by the Directorate General of Immigration of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights by looking at and considering all of its cases.

Meanwhile, based on data from the Bali Ministry of Law and Human Rights Regional Office, deportation sanctions have been given to 289 foreigners from 55 countries from January to November 13, 2023.

The number of foreigners deported was higher than in 2022 which reached 188 foreigners expelled from Bali.

Foreigners who are subject to sanctions include abusing residence permits, bypassing residence permits, criminal acts, and violating the norms and legal rules in force in Indonesia.
