Trisakti University Criminal Law expert Abdul Fickar Hadjar said Polda Metro Jaya should immediately arrest KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri as a suspect in Syahrul Yasin Limpo's extortion.

"Other forced attempts should have been made such as arresting and detaining," said Fickar, Friday, November 24.

Fickar assessed that the amount of evidence confiscated by investigators was sufficient to decide on Firli Bahuri's detention.

"Because of its strategic position in the KPK, it has the potential to eliminate evidence and repeat its actions," said Fickar.

Firli Bahuri filed a pretrial lawsuit at the South Jakarta District Court. The lawsuit relates to his determination as a suspect in the alleged extortion case against the former Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo.

"The South Jakarta District Court has received a pretrial application on behalf of applicant Firli Bahuri," said South Jakarta District Court Public Relations official, Djuyamto in his statement, Friday, November 24.

The pretrial lawsuit is registered with the number: 129/Pid.Pra/2023/JKT.SEL. Where, Firli Bahuri as the applicant, and the Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Karyoto as the respondent.

With this lawsuit, the Chairman of the South Jakarta District Court has appointed the sole judge Imelda Herawati to examine and try the case for the judicial request.

"The single judge has set the first day of trial on Monday, December 11, 2023," said Djuyamto.
