Mount Pandemor Fire Batu City Reportedly Extinguished

The City of BATU - Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Batu City stated that forest and land fires in Gunung Panderman, Batu City, East Java were reported to have been extinguished.

The Head of BPBD for Batu City, Agung Sedayu, said that for now there are no more puffs of smoke that have appeared around Mount Pandemani, but a number of personnel are still monitoring.

"Today it has been extinguished, there is no visible puff of smoke," Agung said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, November 24.

Agung explained that a number of personnel who carried out the monitoring were placed on the West Cross Line (Jalibar) of Batu City and aimed at ensuring that there were no more puffs of smoke and new hotspots. "Currently the team is monitoring Mount Panderman from the West Cross Line. Meanwhile, sweeping will be carried out to ensure that the remaining fires have been completely extinguished," he said. Based on the records of BPBD Batu City, the fire triggered by a lightning strike on the slopes of Mount Panderman which eventually spread to that peak, scorched approximately 29 hectares of forest and land areas. "The impact of damage to an area of 29 hectares," he said.

It is noted that the 17 hectare area is located at Petak 227 Resort Forest Management (RPH) Oro-Oro Ombo and the rest is at Petak 213 or in the Bon Klerek Block. The fire scorched a number of vegetation, such as cypress and minang-alang trees that were at the scene. The forest and land fires occurred in Lereng Gunung Panderman, Batu City, East Java, precisely at Petak 227 RPH Oro-Oro Ombo on Tuesday (21/11) due to a lightning strike. The strike that hit the tree on the slopes of Mount Pandrerman, the fire then spread to the top of Mount Pandrerman. The flames burned the vegetation of the pine and alang trees at the scene.
