President Jokowi Immediately Signs Presidential Decree On Temporary Dismissal Firli Bahuri

The Ministry of State Secretariat (Kemensetneg) has prepared a Presidential Decree (Keppres) regarding the temporary dismissal of Firli Bahuri from the position of Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

"The Ministry of State Secretariat has prepared the Draft Presidential Decree for the temporary dismissal of the Chairperson of the KPK and also the appointment of a temporary chairman," said Presidential Special Staff Coordinator Ari Dwipayana as reported by ANTARA, Friday, November 24.

He said the Ministry of State Affairs had received a notification letter for the determination of the suspect on behalf of the Chairman of the KPK, Mr. Firli Bahuri, on Thursday (23/11) at 17.00 WIB at the State Secretariat.

As a follow-up to the letter, said Ari, his party prepared the Draft Presidential Decree on the temporary dismissal of the Chairperson of the KPK and also the appointment of a temporary chairman to the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

"So there are two contents of the Presidential Decree. One is related to the temporary dismissal of the KPK chairman and the second is the appointment of the interim chairman," he said.

Regarding who the candidate for acting (Plt) to replace Firli, Ari said that the figure came from one of the current KPK leaders which President Jokowi will decide.

"The Presidential Decree is adjusted to Law Number 19 of 2019 concerning the second amendment and also refers to Government Regulation in Lieu of Law Number 1 of 2015 which was ratified by the DPR into Law Number 10 of 2015," Ari added.

After the Presidential Decree is approved, said Ari, the Ministry of State Affairs will hand it over to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) for signature.

"As we all know, the President is currently on a working visit to West Papua and after that he will leave for West Kalimantan for a working visit. The plan is that tonight he will land in Jakarta," he said.

Ari said that the handover of the Presidential Decree was handed over by his party at the first opportunity.

"Yes, after he landed in Jakarta," said Ari when asked whether the Presidential Decree would be signed by the President tonight.

Polda Metro Jaya has named the Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri as a suspect in the alleged extortion case against former Indonesian Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL).

Firli Bahuri's determination as a suspect is as referred to in Article 12 e or Article 12 B or Article 11 of Law (UU) Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption, as amended and supplemented by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Amendments to Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Corruption in conjunction with Article 65 of the Criminal Code.
