SUKA MAKMUE - Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Nagan Raya Regency, Aceh Province noted that 41 villages spread across nine sub-districts in the area were flooded with water levels reaching more than one meter.

"Local governments together with the TNI, Polri, Tagana and other related parties are still trying to help people affected by natural disasters," said Head of BPBD Nagan Raya, Aceh, Irfanda Rinadi, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, November 23.

According to him, the cause of flooding in Nagan Raya Regency was due to the high rainfall that had occurred since last Monday (20/11), resulting in the river flow in the area overflowing into community settlements and also submerging roads.

There are also 41 villages that are currently affected by flooding, including in Darul Makmur District, floods inundated Kuta Trieng Village, Lamie, Geulanggang Gajah, Alue Waki, Ujong Lamie, Alue Raya, Kayee Unoe, Suka Ramai, Sumber Makmur, Gunong Cut.

In Tripa Makmur District, the flood submerged Panton Pange village, Ujong Krueng, Mon Dua. Neubok Yee PK, Neubok Yee PP, Pasi Kebeu Dom, Kabu, Drien Tujoh.

Then in Tadu Raya District, covering Alue Bata Village, Gunong Geulugo, Gunong Kupok, Gunong Sapek, Sarah Mantok, Alue Gajah, Pasi Luah Village. Kuala District includes Simpang Peut and Blang Muko Villages.

Floods also affected villages in Kuala Pesisir sub-district including Langkak, Padang Rubek, Gampong Pulo, Lueng Teungku Ben. In Seunagan sub-district, it includes Pante Ceureumen and Alue Buloh villages and in East Seunagan sub-districts covering Sawang Mane and Pulo Teungoh villages.

Floods also affected a number of villages in Beutong District including Panton Bayam, Blang Neuang, Kulam Jeureuneh, Meunasah Teungoh and Krueng Cut. Meanwhile, in Suka Makmue District, floods submerged people's houses in Lhok Rameuan Village.

Irfanda said his party together with related parties continued to make efforts to evacuate people trapped by river currents, as well as collect data on victims affected by the flood.

"Currently most of the water has started to recede, we hope this condition will return to normal soon," said Irfanda.
