Polda Metro Jaya Asked To Immediately Detain Firli After Becoming A Suspect For SYL Extortion

JAKARTA - Research Center for Anti-Corruption Studies at Mulawarman University, Herdiansyah Hamzah asked Polda Metro Jaya to immediately arrest KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri.

This forced effort must be carried out after he is named a suspect in extortion or receiving gratuities from former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo.

"There are two important things to ensure the continuation of this case. First, arrests must be made immediately," Herdiansyah told reporters, Thursday, November 23.

The arrest, which resulted in Herdiansyah's detention, was considered to be able to prevent Firli from escaping to eliminate evidence.

"Moreover, he is still the chairman of the KPK, so it is easy to abuse his authority, including to keep trying to bargaining on cases and holding each other hostage," he said.

The next important thing, Firli should be aware of his resignation from his position. The President could even dismiss him if the former Deputy for Corruption Eradication of the KPK, Agus Rahardjo, remained unmoved.

"If you have shame, Firli should resign as a KPK leader. If you budge, it is the president who must immediately dismiss him," said Herdiansyah.

"The president should not pretend to not hear. Because the president has a responsibility to save public trust in the KPK," he continued.

Previously, Polda Metro Jaya finished carrying out the title of the case of alleged extortion or receiving gratuities from the former Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo. Firli was finally named a suspect. Then there was Kapolrestabes Semarang Kombes Pol Irwan Anwar, Director of Dumas KPK Tomi Murtomo, as well as two former KPK leaders Saut Situmorang and M Jasin. Meanwhile, experts are about 8 people consisting of criminal law experts, micro expressions, and procedural law.A series of cases of alleged extortion or gratuities received by KPK leaders against Syahrul Yasin Limpo began when Polda Metro Jaya received dumas on August 12, 2023. With this complaint, the Sub-Directorate of Tipidkor Ditreskrimsus Polda Metro Jaya collected information on the basis of a statement collection order (pulbaket) issued on Tuesday, August 15, 2023.

Not long after, investigators issued an investigation warrant on August 21. At this stage, a number of witnesses were examined, one of which was SYL. Then, after the series of investigations were completed, investigators carried out a case title. As a result, a criminal element was found so that the status of the case was upgraded to the investigation stage.
