JAKARTA - Commission VIII of the DPR proposed a hajj fee scheme in 1445H/2024 AD with a financing proportion of 60 percent for the cost of organizing the pilgrimage (BPIH) compared to 40 percent of the use of the value of benefits.

This 60:40 scheme is so as not to burden the pilgrims when compared to the government's proposal of 70:30 percent. However, the proposed scheme increased compared to last year where the proportion of Hajj costs was at 55:45, so that the continuity of the value of benefits could still be felt by the congregation in the following years.

"Last year it was 55:45, we increased a little bit. So that the substance is maintained, because if the BPKH is high, it's a pity for the Hajj pilgrims for the year, year, year after year," said Chairman of Commission VIII DPR Ashabul Kahfi at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Wednesday, November 22.

Later, continued Ashabul, the DPR's proposal will be submitted to the Ministry of Religion to be mutually agreed upon. This means that prospective pilgrims will pay 60 percent of the total hajj costs, while the remaining 40 percent is paid from the value of the benefits of BPKH management results.

Prospective pilgrims can also pay the 60 percent fee until it is paid off before the latest Presidential Decree (Keppres) is issued regarding BPIH.

"So the BPIH scheme with a benefit value of 60:40. It didn't happen (70:30)," said Ashabul emphasizing.

Meanwhile, Commission VIII of the House of Representatives recommended the 2024 hajj fee of around Rp. 93 million, while the government's final proposal was at Rp. 94 million. Ashabul also ensured that the hajj costs that would be agreed would not be more than Rp. 95 million.

"Yes, 94-95 (million) around that. We recommend 94 (million)," he said.

Ashabul said the 2024 hajj fee would be knocked out on Monday, December 4 next week. Commission VIII, he said, targets the agreed Hajj fee of IDR 94 million.

"If not this is the 4th day, before the closing of the trial period. Our target is 93 comas. But maybe 94-95," he said.
