1 Personnel Died During Shooting Contact With KKB In Intan Jaya Papua, Cartenz Peace Task Force Chases Perpetrators

PAPUA - Security forces from the Cartenz Peace Operations Task Force Team are pursuing the perpetrators of the shooting of two personnel in Titigi District, Intan Jaya Regency, Central Papua. Head of the Cartenz Peace Operations Public Relations Task Force 2023 AKBP Bayu Suseno said the perpetrators were suspected of being the Intan Jaya Armed Criminal Group (KKB) who were acting up again. One personnel was killed and the other injured. "In this incident, two Brimob personnel from the NTT Police who were members of the Damai Cartenz Ops Task Force were shot until now the two victims have been evacuated to Timika Hospital for intensive care,” he said in a press release in Jayapura, Antara, Wednesday, November 22. According to Bayu, one personnel died on behalf of Bharada Bonifasius Java. He was shot in the right armpit, while the other was Bharatu Rani Yohanes Seran on the left leg. "The shootout occurred in Titigi District, Intan Jaya Regency, Central Papua, our members were shot dead and one gunshot wound in the leg,” he said. He explained the chronology of the shootout with KKB occurred at around 08.20 WIT when the Intan Jaya Police Joint Team and the Cartenz Peace Task Force processed the crime scene to shift from the Intan Jaya Police Headquarters to the TKP processing location in Titigi District, Intan Jaya Regency, Central Papua.

“ At 12.28 WIT, the team received gunfire from KKB Intan Jaya which resulted in a shootout. During the firefight, there were casualties and injuries from the security forces," he said. He added that the joint TNI/Polri apparatus who are members of the Cartenz Peace Operations Task Force are trying to pursue the KKB perpetrators.
