South Sumatra Police Hunt For Owner Of Illegal Fuel Shelter In Ogan Ilir

The South Sumatra Police are still investigating and hunting for the owner of an illegal fuel storage warehouse (BBM) in Ogan Ilir Regency which was raided by the police last Saturday. Plt Dirreskrimsus Polda Sumsel AKBP Putu Yudha Prawira said the owner of the land that was used as a fuel shelter was K, one of the members of Brimob. However, until now the police are still investigating who owns the illegal fuel storage warehouse. "The raid was carried out on Saturday, November 17, 2023, in North Indralaya District, Ogan Ilir Regency and the owner of the land, namely an individual member of Brimob, has now been questioned by the South Sumatra Police," Putu said at a press conference in Palembang, Antara, Monday, November 20. The Brimob member rented out the land which turned out to be an illegal fuel shelter since 2020, and his party had interrogated the person listed in the Banpol (police assistance) report received along with the head of the local RT (neighbor group), namely Subandrio. "We have not determined who the suspect is because we are still digging up information and information from the local community. In addition, the type of fuel that is accommodated will be sampled," he said. He emphasized that there is no tolerance whatsoever for who owns the illegal fuel management site. "But we are still investigating this, we also have to examine experts, so we take samples to be tested in the laboratory. So this process is still long and we will convey developments," he said.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commander of the South Sumatra Police Mobile Brigade Unit, AKBP Eko Sumariyanto, said that members of Brimob (K) had been asked for information by the South Sumatra Police Ditreskrimsus. Eko said that the land had been rented by the person since 2020, but he did not know what activities the tenant had carried out.
