Firli Reveals Reasons For 'Taking Up' Like A Corruptor After Being Questioned By The Police: I'm An Ordinary Man, It Takes Time

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri said he needed time after being questioned by the Polda Metro Jaya on Thursday, November 16. This is what makes him look like a corruptor by hiding the face behind a black bag in the back seat of a minibus.

"I am aware that my colleagues are waiting. With the awareness that I am a public official but I am also a human being. Sometimes I need time to pause, especially in a situation that I consider abnormal, which I couldn't explain at that time," Firli said at a press conference at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Monday, November 20.

Firli admitted that he also did not sleep before the examination. He claims that he participated in monitoring the hand arrest operation (OTT) in Sorong, Southwest Papua.

It is known, from the silent operation, the anti-corruption commission named a number of suspects in connection with the alleged bribery audit of the Southwest Province Supreme Audit Agency (BPK). One of them is the Acting Regent of Sorong Yan Piet Mosso.

Furthermore, Firli said that he had carried out the legal process. "I don't care that I am a Purnawirawan Komjen or I am the head of the KPK institution. I am my duty to pick up justice," said the former Deputy for Enforcement of the KPK era, Agus Rahardjo.

Previously reported, Firli had undergone a second examination on Thursday, November 16. After being questioned, he left a building in the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police at around 14:36 WIB and immediately got into a black car with license plate number B 1917 TJQ.

Then, Firli was seen leaning like lying in a car by lowering the back of the chair. He tried to cover his face with a black bag.

Meanwhile, the Director of Special Criminal Investigation at the Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Ade Safri Simanjuntak said there were 15 questions asked by investigators.

It was not clearly stated what investigators studied from the dozens of questions raised. Ade only emphasized the investigation process to investigate allegations of extortion and or receiving gratuities.
