"On Thursday, November 16, 2023 at around 14.00 WIB, the victim was found dead hanging himself at someone else's house at a house on Jalan Imam Bonjol RT 02 RW 10 Desa Tangga, Turen District, Malang Regency," he explained.

According to the Deputy Chief of Police as a result of a series of investigations and examinations of 17 witnesses, officers finally managed to apprehend 5 perpetrators suspected of being involved in the kidnapping and violence against the victim, before finally the victim hanged himself.

Five kidnappers were arrested by officers, namely the initials KS (41) a resident of Sitiarjo Village, Sumbermjingwetan District, SB (39) a resident of Pandanrejo Village, Wagir District, RM (50) a resident of Sumbermjing Wetan Village, Sumbermjing Wetan District, MW (43) a resident of Tangga Village, Turen District, and RS (45) a resident of Bumirejo Village, Dampit District.

He revealed that the motives of the perpetrators were to gain economic benefits against the victim by accusing the victim of immoral acts.

"The suspect asked for a ransom of Rp. 30 million, and the victim tried to communicate to the family, but the family could not accept it," he explained.

As a result of their actions, the suspects will be subject to multiple articles, namely Article 328 of the Criminal Code and Article 333 of the Criminal Code concerning kidnapping, Article 170 of the Criminal Code concerning beatings, and Article 368 of the Criminal Code related to extortion.

"The maximum threat is imprisonment for 12 years, 8 years, 5 years, and 9 years," said Kompol Wisnu.
