Become A Victim Of Kidnapping And Torture, A Resident Of Kepanjen Malang Hangs Himself

Malang Police arrested five kidnappers by accusing the victim of immoral acts. The victim, Abdul Gofur (54), a resident of Ardirejo Village, Kepanjen District, Malang Regency, East Java. From the results of the investigation by the Malang Police Satreskrim officers, the victim was desperate to hang himself because he was not strongly tortured by the perpetrators.

Malang Deputy Chief of Police, Kompol Wisnu S Kuncoro, said the case began with the discovery of the victim who died hanging at a house on Jalan Imam Bonjol RT 02 RW 10 Desa Tangga, Turen District, Malang Regency, last Thursday.

Wisnu explained that the chronology began last Wednesday at around 20.00 WIB. At that time, the victim was picked up from his house and then forced to go to the house of one of the perpetrators in Tangga Village, Turen District, Malang Regency.

The perpetrators reasoned that they had the heart to torture and extort the victim's family by asking for Rp. 30 million for accusing the victim of immoral problems with one of the perpetrator's female friends named Diana Nasution.

"While at the house, the victim was often abused. The stomach and face were hit repeatedly. Not only that, the perpetrators also asked the victim for a ransom of Rp. 30 million to resolve the alleged immoral case," said Kompol Wisnu, Saturday, November 18.

Until then, said Wisnu, the victim who felt frustrated then reasoned to the bathroom, which the victim was later found dead by hanging himself.

From the results of the investigation, the police found irregularities because the daily victim did not live in the house. Starting from this irregularity, the police finally found the fact that there were a series of criminal acts in the form of kidnappings accompanied by violence and extortion of victims.

"On Thursday, November 16, 2023 at around 14.00 WIB, the victim was found dead hanging himself at someone else's house at a house on Jalan Imam Bonjol RT 02 RW 10 Desa Tangga, Turen District, Malang Regency," he explained.

According to the Deputy Chief of Police as a result of a series of investigations and examinations of 17 witnesses, officers finally managed to apprehend 5 perpetrators suspected of being involved in the kidnapping and violence against the victim, before finally the victim hanged himself.

Five kidnappers were arrested by officers, namely the initials KS (41) a resident of Sitiarjo Village, Sumbermjingwetan District, SB (39) a resident of Pandanrejo Village, Wagir District, RM (50) a resident of Sumbermjing Wetan Village, Sumbermjing Wetan District, MW (43) a resident of Tangga Village, Turen District, and RS (45) a resident of Bumirejo Village, Dampit District.

He revealed that the motives of the perpetrators were to gain economic benefits against the victim by accusing the victim of immoral acts.

"The suspect asked for a ransom of Rp. 30 million, and the victim tried to communicate to the family, but the family could not accept it," he explained.

As a result of their actions, the suspects will be subject to multiple articles, namely Article 328 of the Criminal Code and Article 333 of the Criminal Code concerning kidnapping, Article 170 of the Criminal Code concerning beatings, and Article 368 of the Criminal Code related to extortion.

"The maximum threat is imprisonment for 12 years, 8 years, 5 years, and 9 years," said Kompol Wisnu.
