DPD Explains Five Real Steps To Overcome Inter-Regional Social Gaps

SURABAYA - The gap between regions in Indonesia is still so wide. As a result, there is a far imbalance in the Human Development Index (HDI) which has an uneven impact on development.

Chairman of DPD AA LaNyalla Mahmud Mattalitti assessed that there must be concrete steps in overcoming the gap between regions with a very wide ravine.

"This is a serious enough problem and requires a serious formula to reduce the level of social inequality that occurs," said LaNyalla, Surabaya, East Java, Friday, November 17.

Therefore, there must be concrete steps in suppressing the gap between regions. Eastern Indonesia, LaNyalla continued, must be given priority in human development.

LaNyalla assesses that there are five steps that the government must pay attention to in increasing the Human Development Index (HDI) in an area. First, development must prioritize the population as a center of attention.

Second, development is meant to enlarge the choices for the population, not only to increase their income.

"Therefore, the concept of human development must be concentrated on the population as a whole, not only on the economic aspect," said LaNyalla.

Third, human development pays attention to efforts to optimally utilize human abilities. In addition, to improve human capabilities or capabilities. Fourth, human development is supported by four main pillars. These pillars include productivity, equity, sustainability, and empowerment.

"Finally, human development is the basis for determining development goals and in analyzing options to achieve them," he said.

As is known, the release of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) shows an inequality with equality. In terms of the Human Development Index (HDI), BPS shows data that Papua is the area with the lowest HDI.
